Akro Agate
Akro Agate glass is a depression glass made in Clarksburg, West Virginia,
from 1932 to 1951. It was primarily a manufacturer of marbles, branching out into other
product lines, including ash trays and children's toy dishes, in the mid-1930s,
and also made jars, pots for cosmetics, and tiny urns; The company closed its
doors in 1951, after the ending of World War II, as the cutoff of imports from
Japan meant an end to inexpensive toy china sets, and demand for Akro Agate's
depresson glass sets skyrocketed.
Most of the glass is marked with a crow flying through the letter A.
